Five pounds of Indiana pork shoulder, rubbed with a classic barbecue blend, cooked until it pulls apart on its own, and packed moist and ready to eat. It comes from This Old Farm in Colfax, Indiana, where the pork is raised by small family farms in the surrounding countryside and processed a short drive from where it was raised.

The rub is the old-fashioned kind: savory, a little sweet, built to season the meat rather than bury it. There's no sauce in the bag, so you can finish it the way your family always has, whether that's a Carolina vinegar, a thick Kansas City style, or nothing at all.

It ships frozen. Thaw it, warm it through, and you've got sandwiches for a crowd, a tailgate, a family reunion, or a week of easy dinners. Five pounds makes about 15 hearty sandwiches.

FAQ

Is it fully cooked?
Yes. It arrives cooked and pulled. You're only warming it up. Heat to 165°F before serving.

How do I reheat it?
Thaw the pack in the refrigerator overnight (allow about 24 hours for the full 5 lb). Stovetop: warm in a covered pan over medium-low heat with a splash of broth or water, stirring now and then. Oven: spread in a baking dish with a little liquid, cover with foil, and heat at 325°F for 25–30 minutes. Microwave works fine for a plate or two.

Is sauce included?
No. The pork is seasoned with the rub and nothing else, so it's ready for whatever sauce you like, or none.

Is it smoked?
No. It's seasoned with the rub and cooked, not smoked. You get tender, juicy pork with a clean barbecue seasoning. If you like crispy edges, spread a few handfuls in a hot cast-iron skillet before serving.

Is this the same pulled pork you carried before?
No. As of fall 2026, our pulled pork comes from This Old Farm. Same 5 lb pack, new maker, new recipe.

This Old Farm works with an alliance of small and mid-sized family farms, most within about an hour of its processing facility in Colfax, Indiana. The pork is raised, processed, and cooked right here in the state.

This smoked shoulder was DELICIOUS! I grew up in New England where we would have these for St Patrick’s Day (and other occasions as it is a family favorite) but since moving to NC I have not been able to find one. I bought two as I have family coming next month and plan to eat the other one then!
